HONG KONG, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Chinese private equity firm Trustar Capital is planning to raise a so-called continuation fund that would allow it to sell down its stake in McDonald's China, two sources with knowledge of the matter said. That plan would be achieved by Trustar, formerly known as CITIC Capital, transferring some equity interest in McDonald's China from its private equity (PE) fund into the continuation fund, a new investment vehicle that would manage the asset. Currently, Trustar owns 42% of the business, while Carlyle and CITIC own 28% and 10% respectively, according to McDonald's China. Carlyle has also been considering options for its stake in McDonald's China, including setting up a continuation fund, Reuters has reported. "McDonald's China will continue to leverage the capital and other resources from CITIC (Trustar), Carlyle, and McDonald's Corp to achieve the future milestone of 10,000 stores," said McDonald's China.

It's not even midyear yet, but the full gamut of scenarios has been juggled in just five months. World markets have swung from "hard landing" fears of late 2022 to the "soft landing" hopes of the new year and then even unnerving thoughts of "no landing" at all - just before the banking stress hit of March forced them to return to square one. "The economy is more resilient than the market realizes," BlackRock's Chief Executive Larry Fink said on Wednesday, adding more interest rates rises will be necessary but that he saw no "evidence that we're going to have a hard landing." A "soft landing" typically relates to the ability of the Federal Reserve and other central banks to get inflation back close to 2% targets without crashing the economy into a deep contraction with surging unemployment via extreme rate rises. If correct - and not all agree - the prospect of a sustained return to 2% inflation targets would surely turn off the seatbelt sign.

Kim Posnett was just named head of Goldman's all-important TMT investment banking group. Posnett, 43, has long been one of the most senior figures at Goldman's investment bank. Posnett was previously the head of Goldman's investment-banking services unit, which acts as a salesforce for the global IB division. The former co-head of Goldman's TMT franchise will become co-chairman of the unit. The former would result in the IB services group, which functions, in effect, as a sales force.
The division slated to become Kenvue generated $14.95 billion in global sales last year, about 15.7% of Johnson & Johnson’s total. Photo: BRENDAN MCDERMID/REUTERSJohnson & Johnson is poised to begin a roadshow to pitch shares of its consumer-healthcare business, the producer of household names such as Tylenol, in a test for an IPO market that has been in the doldrums for the past year. Kenvue Inc. plans to start meeting with prospective investors as early as Monday, people familiar with the matter said. The goal is to raise $3.5 billion or more in the offering at a valuation close to $40 billion, the people said. IPO roadshows typically last anywhere from a few days to a week ahead of the stock’s trading debut.

LISBON, March 9 (Reuters) - Portugal's fourth-largest bank, Novo Banco, announced on Thursday that profit tripled in 2022, boosted by higher interest rates and fewer non-performing assets, and said the strong results could pave the way for an eventual initial public offering. The bank's consolidated net profit jumped to 561 million euros ($592 million) last year, from 184.5 million euros in 2021, it said in a statement. Novo Banco, 75% owned by U.S. private equity fund Lone Star, will see pre-tax profit rise again this year, Chief Executive Mark Bourke told Reuters in a phone interview. Recurring 'profit before taxes' is expected to rise above 600 million euros this year up from 407 million euro last year, he said. Analysts have speculated that Novo Banco could be merged with another lender looking to consolidate its position in Portugal, but Bourke sees the bank remaining independent, growing its business and performing well which will be key for an eventual IPO.

NEW YORK, Feb 24 (Reuters) - India's Adani Group will hold a fixed-income roadshow next week in Asia, according to a bank document seen by Reuters, as the beleaguered conglomerate tries to shore up investor confidence in the aftermath of a U.S. short-seller report. Barclays, BNP Paribas, DBS Bank, Deutsche Bank, Emirates NBD Capital, ING, IMI-Intesa Sanpaolo, MUFG, Mizuho, SMBC Nikko and Standard Chartered Bank are the banks organising next week's roadshow, according to the document.

EY sees other Big Four firms mirroring its proposed split
  + stars: | 2022-12-06 | by ( Huw Jones | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
LONDON, Dec 6 (Reuters) - Splitting EY into separate accounting and consultancy businesses will help pay rising technology bills and "inevitably" be copied by rival "Big Four" firms, a top EY official told a Reuters Breakingviews podcast. "It was an appropriate time to dust down the work we did before," Baldwin said. Some of the other Big Four firms have said they have no plans to copy EY. Critics caution that splitting the business could see the auditing side suffer in the shadow of what is traditionally more lucrative consulting work. EY says the split will make it easier to raise capital to invest and create two more agile companies.
Amazon created a new team called "Amazon Software Builder Experience," leaked documents show. Amazon software engineers are so frustrated by bureaucratic inefficiencies that the company has created a secret new team to address their concerns. Earlier this year, Amazon formed the "Amazon Software Builder Experience" group with the ambitious goal of turning the internet giant into "Earth's best employer for software builders," according to internal documents obtained by Insider. "The Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) organization was created to singularly focus on improving the experience of software builders across Amazon," one of the documents states. One of the slides presented during the speech, obtained by Insider, shows mounting frustrations among Amazon engineers.
